Lofoten Lights – Cancelled due to Covid

Join Alan Barker on an incredible arctic adventure through one of Norway's most beautiful areas, the Lofoten Islands. This is a wonderful time of the year to be photographing Norway, as mid-January sees the sun smile once again after a one month absence.  To say the light during this period is stunning, would be an understatement and the promise of amazing images awaits! Each day will be out shooting from sunrise to sunset, before recharging and returning to the field in search of the aurora. The lure of the Aurora, or Northern Lights, will beckon to us each night and with the hope of clear, starry skies we will aim to capture her elusive beauty as she dances across the night.

This is a trip you don't want to miss!

For the duration of our experience, we will be based around the southern parts of the Lofoten Islands at Ballstad and Reine. These regions has often been referred to as some of the most scenic destinations on earth, by renowned sources such as National Geographic and Lonely Planet. The natural beauty of the region begins with a glance right outside your window to the amazing granite mountains, extending to unique beaches and colourful fjords; made even better with a dusting of snow to accentuate the majesty of the landscape. One of the aspects that makes Lofoten such a gorgeous place to visit, particularly for photographers, is the notoriously unpredictable nature of the weather. Conditions and light can change both constantly and dramatically; one minute you are shooting incredible mountain peaks peppered by snow and kissed in sunlight, an hour later capturing a mythical 'Game of Thrones-like' scene as storm clouds roll in and waters surge.
